Developer Update - June 2024


Hello everyone!


Below is all the notable updates from over the last month. Im going to try to push out an updated demo this month. We'll see!

== Metropolis 1998 June 2024 Update ==

--Major Updates

  • Engine updated to handle Load On Demand efficiently
  • Blueprints can now be mirrored
  • More work done on the Demand Loop

--Minor Updates

  • Unit properly path in 3D space now (i.e. multi-story buildings with non-continuous stairs)
  • Map/world now has boundary fence for federally owned land
  • Potato Graphics Mode (only draw outdoor and top visible floor items)

--Notable Bug Fixes

  • Fixed units sometimes not drawing to screen when they are in higher floors

--Code Updates that took a good chunk of time

  • Dynamic allocation for classes due to hitting stack memory limit
  • Replaced hash tables with strict-type (index lookup) vectors
  • Code refactoring, removed lots of unnecessary containers to reduce overhead/code complexity
